The Isle of Anglesey County Council today (Tuesday, October 22) confirmed the appointment of Dylan Williams as its new Deputy Chief Executive.

Dylan, who is currently employed as the authority’s Director of Place and Community Well-being, will take up his new post in the near future.

Dylan Williams said, “I’m proud to be appointed as Anglesey’s new Deputy Chief Executive.

“I look forward to working with colleagues and elected members to ensure we continue to deliver the best possible services to residents and local communities, despite diminishing budgets. The new role will also provide significant challenges as I focus on key transformation programmes, such as place shaping and school modernisation as well as wider partnership initiatives, both on a regional and national level.”

He added, “I’m eager to begin the work and will do my utmost for the people of Anglesey.”

Born and bred in Newborough, Dylan was educated at Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni. He gained his BA in Business and Social Administration from Y Coleg Normal, Bangor, and has subsequently achieved an MSc in Environmental Planning and MA in Change Management, both with Liverpool’s John Moores University.

Dylan began his career with the Isle of Anglesey County Council as a trainee in the Planning and Economic Development Service in 1996. He gained several promotions within the Economic Development service before becoming Head of that Service in 2010.  Following a senior management restructure in 2016, he was appointed as Head of Regulation and Economic Development.

During his time in that post, Dylan has established and led the delivery of several of the Council’s Strategic Programmes such as the Destination Management Plan, Energy Island Programme and both the Leisure and Maritime Improvement Plans. He has also played a significant role in the Wylfa Newydd project; and is currently the Senior Responsible Owner for energy related projects as part of the Growth Deal for North Wales.

Council Leader, Councillor Llinos Medi warmly welcomed the appointment, adding, “I would like to congratulate Dylan on his appointment. He will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in local government to the role and I look forward to working with him.”

“Our Council Plan 2017-22 includes many ambitious and important targets as we look to support individuals, families and local communities. At its core, is our desire to create the right conditions for everyone to fulfil their long-term potential; to support the vulnerable and keep them safe and healthy; and work in partnership with communities to ensure that they can meet future challenges.”

Cllr Medi added, “This Council is on an important improvement journey, and as our new Deputy Chief Executive, Dylan will play a key role in driving forward positive change as we look to create a healthy, thriving and prosperous Anglesey.”

Dylan currently lives in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll.  He is married to Awen and they have two young daughters.
